FIVE DAYS

Five Days is a short film about Mike, a guy in his early twenties, who upon
request by his girlfriend, gets an HIV test. Mike stresses and worries about past mistakes
and "what if's", resulting in paranoid delusions of what may come depending on the results.
Writer's Reflection
This is one of those situations most, if not all of us, have been through.
The crazy flashbacks we had during the five days, or week, or two weeks waiting
for the results. It's almost as if life is put on hold during that waiting
time because of the stress caused by the worry, when half of the time there was
nothing to worry about. I began writing this as a drama, with a very serious tone, but quickly realized
I could make it very funny- so it's now a comedy. I hope not to offend
anyone, because I know not all of us who have taken an HIV test, walk away happy
after getting the results. I am in no way making light of the virus, but
simply using it as a tool to show how funny it can be what kind of paranoia
stress can cause. All things, once
we've already gone thru them- if we survived them, become funny in
hindsight. This is no different. In all actuality, this film
sways back and forth from laughter to drama- to say anymore gives away the
outcome. In this case however, the movie is about the waiting, not the
results. It's about tricks the human mind can play on us when dealing with
stressful situations or worry, and how we deal with them. My heart
does go out to all of those who have suffered from, and or died from the HIV
virus, or AIDS.
